Robert Lang keeps insisting to me that he isn’t a poet. I’ve kindly mentioned several times that is he, in fact, wrong. “I don’t know why I’ve been slow to say that, I feel like it’s an equivalent to being a virgin in the literary world,” says Lang. Even in our email discourse, I can see the genres brewing inside him: prose poetry, flash fiction, lyrical essay. It was no guess as to who I was going to select for an October Artist Feature when I received his submission. The literary world should start getting used to seeing a lot more from him, starting with this feature.
